*dusts off blog* It's been a while my friends. Recent months have seen my time going mostly to a lot of drawing, sketching and worldbuilding for a story I am working on. I also worked on some soundtracks for that a little which means that blogging but also the regular music hunting were paused for a bit. I have however been discovering new music in this period, in large parts by stumbling upon the Chillout/Lounge station on 1.fm: a free internet radio station with an incredibly diverse set of stations providing genres for virtually anyone that loves music.
What has struck me about this rabbithole journey through the wonderful soundscapes lumped together as "Chillout" is how in a way it's not really a singular genre... Perhaps it was once upon time, meant to capture Ambient pieces with either lowkey percussion or no beats at all. But as this playlist* will reveal, 1.fm unleashes tracks built on Ambient, "slow Breaks", Bossa Nova, Latin/Mediterrenean, Jazz, Synthwave, House and even Trance influences. It ends up turning a generous lottery of sorts because you are most likely to win (a new awesome discovery) then not but you never know what you might win!
I guess I kind of fully embraced this station out of a vehement rejection of Autumn which decided to start in the second week of September this year... I was not willing to accept that just yet. So I played this radio and got hit with a lot of beautiful summery tunes but also some, that curiously, work perfectly for autumn weather! And so in a way this playlist has served as a bridge from the sunny beach to the cafe, on a rainy afternoon, as you sip your cappuccino and write (or read) a few pages of your book.
Kick back, relax and hit shuffle and play on this, I think it's ideal music to relax to as well as to make homework/study, write essays or basically do any kind of (monotone) chore. I hope the occasional Latin guitar or funky bassline will get you grooving as much as it has gotten me to bust a move at time. ^^
